A Hopkinsville woman is in hot water for allegedly lying to police yesterday.
42-year old Carmen Denise Hancock of the city is charged with one count of giving an officer a false name or address and was taken into custody early this morning.
Police say Hancock was seen driving eastbound on Academy Drive and was stopped because her license plate was not illuminated and was given a verbal warning for the offense.
Upon contact with Hancock, the responding officer reports that she stated her name was Patsy Humphrey with a birth date of May 3rd, 1952, however a photo on Mobile Cop revealed a different person.
Hancock was then given a verbal warning about giving the officer a false name and birth date, but still continued to state she was another person and gave the officer a social security number that ended up being registered to another person.
Later she admitted to lying to police about her real identity because she had an active warrant on file for failure to pay.
