The Hopkinsville-Christian County League of Women Voters is working hard to be sure children don’t feel left out with their parents at the polling place.
League members are set up at precincts across Christian County with “pretend ballots” featuring real candidates that children can fill out as practice for when they are old enough to cast a ballot.
Sherry Hopson was set up at one precinct teaching children about voting and said they seemed to enjoy the process.
Ms Hopson says it’s a way to educate children about voting in a concrete way when they put a pen to paper.
Ms. Hopson said she hopes children will take pride in casting their own ballot and learn there is more to politics than what’s seen on television.
