The Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise has announced dates for the annual leaf pickup.
Leaf collection will begin Monday and last through January 4th, according to General Manager Tony Sicari, who says crews will make a minimum of two complete passes through the city within the two month period.
Residents are urged to watch for signs indicating where crews are operating and are reminded that leaves should be placed in piles or rows near the street. They should not be placed in streets, ditches or gutters—as that would obstruct storm water from reaching drains.
Leaves placed for pickup that contain tree branches, trash, rocks or any other material will be bypassed in order to prevent damage to the equipment.
Residents who use compostable bags should call the Solid Waste Authority at 887-6245 to get their bags picked up within 48 hours. There is no limit on how many bags that can be picked up, though only the compostable variety will be accepted.
