A ceremony was held in Elkton this afternoon that likely won’t happen again in the lifetime of anyone who was in attendance.
The new Todd County Judicial Center was officially dedicated in a packed circuit courtroom after rain forced the festivities inside. A 90 minute ceremony featured speakers from the court system, elected officials and others.
The Judicial Center, located on West Main Street, is the third operational building in the town that has served as a courthouse at one time. The Historic Courthouse on the square serves as a welcome center and the second courthouse still serves as the home for county government offices.
Among those speaking was Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Bill Cunningham of Princeton, who said the spacious building is a symbol that being a small county doesn’t mean big visions can’t come true.
