The man accused of selling synthetic drugs from a Hopkinsville convenience store after a ban had been signed into law was summonsed to court yesterday.
Facing charges of trafficking in synthetic drugs is 70-year old Gopalbhai Patel of Hopkinsville, who was allegedly responsible for the sale of the illegal products at Scott’s Market in April.
Hopkinsville Police executed a search warrant of the store days after the ban was signed. In all, 8 thousand dollars worth of the products were seized and $1,615 cash was taken from a cash register only used for synthetic drug transactions.
Police said the 16-hundred dollars was just the cash made at the store in one day from synthetic drugs. Officials said the store paid about $4.50 wholesale for the product and charged customers $20.
Patel will appear in court October 31st at 9am.
