Thousands of 101st Airborne Division soldiers are expected to deploy for their next rendezvous with destiny in Afghanistan and military leaders want to ensure the families of soldiers are taken care of and their children understand the importance of their parents job.
Two soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team will be visiting 3rd grade students whose parents are deployed this week.
The soldiers will be going to South Christian Elementary School located in Herndon Friday morning and will provide insight for a classroom of third grade students who have a deployed father or mother.
Post officials say the discussion session between soldiers and children of deployed soldiers is a great opportunity to highlight the 3rd Brigade Combat Team’s priority to keep family members resilient and informed while their soldiers are deployed.
Soldiers assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team recently visited Holiday Elementary students who offered their poems and drawings to the local soldiers over the summer.
