There will be a meeting with the U.S. Postal Service in Pembroke next month, where residents are hopeful their post office will remain open.
The meeting is set for November 14th at 3pm in the old gym on Nashville Street, where a representative of the Postal Service will address members of the community about what the plans are for the town.
Regional Manager Chris Carroll spoke at the Trenton meeting Wednesday and said the Postal Service is only reducing hours in most communities when at all possible instead of closing the offices. He also gave some background on why the department is in such bad financial shape.
Carroll says other cost-cutting measures such as routing local mail through Nashville instead of Bowling Green has also brought significant savings.
There will also be a Post Office meeting in Herndon October 31st at 1pm in the community’s fire department.
