It’s a big week in Trenton, as residents learned Wednesday evening that their post office will remain open and Kentucky’s First Lady will be in town Thursday.
United States Postal Service Regional Manager Chris Carroll addressed a crowd of about 70 for a community meeting in Trenton and announced the Post Office will remain open, but will see an eventual reduction to a six hours a day work schedule.
Applause broke out at the announcement in the Trenton Community Center and Mayor Joann Holder says it means a lot to her town.
Mayor Holder says First Lady Jane Beshear will bring more good news Thursday morning when she announces a 50-thousand dollar grant for improvements at the town’s walking trail.
First Lady Beshear will make a similar announcement in Christian County at 10am.
Among those in attendance for the Post Office meeting in addition to the Mayor were State Representative Myron Dossett and Magistrate Jim Camp.
