A Clarksville babysitter was arrested on child abuse charges for allegedly injuring an infant in her care late last month.
Charged with aggravated child abuse is 33-year old Jessica Lee Watkins of Ginkgo Drive, Clarksville. Watkins was watching a two month old male on September 28th when she called his mother to say there was swelling in the baby’s leg.
The mother took him to Blanchfield, where officials transferred him to Vanderbilt. Doctors determined the infant had a broken femur, tibia, clavicle and humerus. During an interview with police, Watkins reportedly said she heard a pop when she snatched him out of a car seat, but didn’t know he was hurt until his mother took him to the hospital.
Watkins turned herself in at the Montgomery County Jail around noon yesterday.
