Organizers with the 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the Pennyrile region say they couldn’t be happier with the way Saturday morning’s event turned out.
Nearly 50-thousand dollars has been raised so far to go towards research and services for patients and family members affected by the disease.
Local Alzheimer’s Relationship Manager, Elizabeth Betts says funds raised in Hopkinsville for Alzheimer’s research will also help many local families.
Ms. Betts says every penny counts when it comes to raising enough money to help end Alzheimer’s.
Officials say in 2006, there were 26.6 million sufferers worldwide and it’s being predicted that 1 in 85 people will be affected by Alzheimer’s globally by 2050.
