Governor Steve Beshear will be back in Christian County tomorrow to formally announce details of the speed limit change on U.S. 68-80.
It was announced last week that the speed limit will go up to 65 miles per hour in most low-congestion areas on 68 between Bowling Green and Cadiz, and Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says the Governor is expected to bring more information to a 2pm ceremony at Eastview Baptist Church.
Judge Tribble credited work by state lawmakers and the Southern Pennyrile Chamber Alliance for getting the change made so quickly and said the idea first came to him from Logan County Judge-Executive Logan Chick.
Judge Tribble says he believes more motorists will be routed through the Pennyrile region once the higher speed limit takes hold and everything is registered in the appropriate computer systems.
The Transportation Cabinet approved the changes after a comprehensive study on the effects the increase might cause.
