Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury wreck this morning on I-24 at the 72 mile-marker.
State Police say around 6:09 a.m. preliminary investigation revealed that 47-year old Paul E. Jenkins of Lakeland, Florida was driving a 2001 International tractor-trailer eastbound on I-24 and was hauling cooking oil.
Police say as he was driving eastbound on the interstate, he fell asleep and as a result, the vehicle drifted into the median and overturned on the roadway blocking both eastbound lanes of travel including both shoulders of the roadway.
Jenkins was transported by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital, where he was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.
State Trooper Michael Dennis continues to investigate the collision.
The Square Deal Fire Department, Hopkinsville EMS, and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet also assisted at the scene.
