Governor Steve Beshear says he’s confident the increased speed limit on U.S. 68-80 set to go in effect next week will eventually boost the economies of the four affected counties.
Interviewed after an appearance at the Trilogy Center Thursday, Governor Beshear said the increased traffic volume through Trigg, Christian, Todd and Logan County has to help.
The 65 miles per hour speed limit will likely mean GPS systems will route more motorists through the southern Pennyrile instead of a longer route on Parkways and interstates. The Governor says traveling from Cadiz to Bowling Green will also become an easier task for local residents.
Governor Beshear is expected to make an official announcement Tuesday regarding the long sought after change.
