update: From the Highway Department:
One EASTBOUND lane is now open at this crash site (72 mile-marker I-24)
All traffic is moved to the left-hand or passing lane.
Motorists should slow down and use extreme caution as work to off-load the truck and remove it will continue for 3 or more hours at this site.
Westbound traffic is flowing normally.
Both eastbound lanes of I-24 were closed this morning after a tractor-trailer overturned in the rainy conditions.
Few details are known, but the incident happened shortly after 6 near the 72 mile-marker, which is about five miles inside Christian County. The driver reportedly sustained some type of injury, but the extent wasn’t immediately known.
Eastbound traffic was diverted off I-24 onto US 68-80 at exit 65 in Trigg County as a detour.
The rain also contributed to a single-vehicle wreck on the Pennyrile Parkway at the Pembroke Road interchange, where a vehicle spun out and hit the guard rail just before six o’clock.
