Clarksville Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted for questioning in the shooting death of a local man.
Police say 39-year old Danyon Lydell Dowlen of 722 Gracey Avenue, Clarksville remains in the area, but may be trying to flee.
An eyewitness allegedly came forward and told law enforcement officials that Dowlen and the shooting victim, Charles Sims, were involved in a gun fight within the same area where Sims' body was found.
Police say the eyewitness also stated they were present before, during, and after the confrontation at which time Dowlen was seen with a handgun.
Dowlen’s vehicle was seized by police shortly after the fatal shooting and a check of his criminal history indicates he has been convicted of several felonies and is considered to be a threat to the City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Communities.
Police say through the course of investigation, it was determined that the confrontation between Sims and Dowlen stemmed from the fact that Sims had a relationship with the mother of Dowlen’s child.
According to several residents in the area, Dowlen previously assaulted Sims, but the incident was never reported to police.
Anyone with information about Dowlen’s whereabouts are urged to call 911 immediately and that he is considered to be armed and dangerous.
