The suspect accused in the shooting death of a Hopkinsville man Sunday morning in Oak Grove was arraigned in Christian District Court this afternoon.
22-year old Hersey Mitchell of Persimmon Road, Clarksville was extradited from the Montgomery County Jail to the Christian County Jail and appeared by video conference for his arraignment.
Judge Arnold Lynch presided over today’s arraignment and explained to Mitchell the charges and penalties he is now facing.
After being asked whether or not he could afford an attorney, Mitchell replied that he could afford one and that’s when Judge Lynch set his preliminary hearing for Monday.
He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail after a vehicle pursuit that extended into Tennessee with the Clarksville Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisting in Mitchell’s eventual arrest.
Mitchell is accused of shooting and killing 23-year old Shannon Fairley of Hopkinsville at the Mapco Convenience Store near the Oak Grove Wal-mart.
