Clarksville Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect they believe could be responsible for the shooting death of a man Tuesday night.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 38-year old Danyon Lydell Dowlen, whose last known address was on Gracey Avenue in Clarksville. The warrant is for one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
An eye witness said he saw 50-year old Charles Wilbert Sims and Dowlen involved in gun fight in the same area where Sims’ body was found, according to a news release from Clarksville Police.
While processing the crime scene, several shell casings were found and a gun was collected that corroborated the witness account. Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says police also seized a vehicle at the scene that was driven by Dowlen at the time of the incident.
Dowlen has an extensive criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous. Police say the shooting likely stemmed from the fact that Sims was in a relationship with the mother of Danyon’s child.
Anyone knowing where police can find Dowlen should call 911 or the tips line at 931-645-8477.
