The Hopkinsville Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Pennyrile Regional Citizen Corps Council are working together this National Preparedness Month and a preparedness fair will be held Saturday morning.
Susan Tomlinson is the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at the L.D.S. church and says the event will begin at 8 and end at 2 at the church located on Pin Oak Drive. She says she encourages members of the community to be prepared all year round, having plenty of food and water to survive if the worst happens.
Jim Creighton of the Pennyrile Area Development District says with winter coming, it’s also a good idea to think about how you’ll stay warm if the power goes out.
Several first responder agencies will be at the fair to answer questions and to give advice, while the West Kentucky Blood Center will be conducting a blood drive, which includes a non-fasting cholesterol test.
