The Alabama woman accused of abandoning her son in Clarksville over the weekend has turned herself in to police.
Clarksville Police say 42-year old Cheryl Simpson showed up at the Montgomery County Jail to turn her self in around 5:45 and was charged with child neglect, reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.
Ms. Simpson allegedly rear-ended a vehicle on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard Saturday night and drove away from her 16-year old son when he got out of the car following the incident in an attempt to keep his mother at the scene. The boy told police Simpson had been drinking alcohol prior to the wreck.
The teen’s father came from Ohio to pick him up and Simpson is in jail on 30-thousand dollars bond.
