The driver of a motorcycle was killed this morning in a wreck in the Penchem area of Todd County.
A news release from Kentucky State Police says the incident happened around 6:15 at the intersection of KY 181 and Kentucky 848, which is about three miles east of Trenton.
42-Year old Paul Hedge of Trenton was operating an SUV eastbound on 848 and was attempting to make a left turn toward Elkton on 181 at the stop sign. Hedge said he didn’t see any oncoming traffic and turned into the path of a southbound motorcycle driven by 52-year old Roger Markwell of Lewisburg, causing a collision.
Markwell, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead on the scene by Todd County Coroner Bob Whittlesey. Hedge went uninjured in the crash.
Trooper Michael Dennis investigated the incident, with the Todd County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and Rescue Squad assisting on the scene.
