A 315 acre site on U.S. 68-80 has been designated as a TVA Primary Data Center Site.
Only 22 sites in the 80-thousand square mile TVA service territory received the designation, including the piece of land near Edgewood Baptist Church on Cadiz Road.
Economic Development Council Director Mitch Robinson says companies needing to store large amounts of computer data in safe locations could consider the Hopkinsville site.
Robinson says only two sites in Kentucky were chosen and that he is optimistic the local land will be put to use for a data center in the future.
The site is currently owned by Randy Arnold and Virgil Pelham.
