A large crowd gathered this morning in Hopkinsville at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 19-13 to honor and remember the selfless firefighters who lost their lives while saving others and the thousands of victims of the 9-11 tragedy.
Vietnam Veteran and Commander of the local VFW Post, John Brame says today’s ceremony was not about who attended the service, but a way for people to remember what happened in the past.
Brame added that thousands of innocent lives were lost as a result of the attacks and that it was important to remember their lives.
Following Brame’s remarks, hundreds of red, white and blue balloons were released into the air to honor the victims of the 9-11 attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93.
Among those in attendance included Christian County Judge Executive Steve Tribble, Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp and Michael Pape who was representing Congressman Ed Whitfield.
