City of Hopkinsville official have announced the hosting of this year’s American Public Works Association Skills Competition.
A news release says the Kentucky Southern Branch “Road-eo” competition will be Thursday, September 20th in the parking lots at Tie Breaker Family Acquatic Center and the softball complex.
Public works departments from several cities in the region are expected to participate. The competition includes snow plowing exercises and backhoe operating.
Participants will manipulate equipment through a fixed course while being timed and scored for accuracy and ability to maneuver the machinery in a smooth and efficient manner.
Local Public Works Director Tom Wolf says the city is excited to host the competition and that he looks forward to collaboration with counterparts and demonstrating continued excellence in the field.
Hopkinsville’s Public Works placed first in the backhoe competition last year in Owensboro and swept the top four spots in the skid steer competition.
