Two people were shot this morning in front of a child daycare center in Clarksville.
Clarksville Police say around 9:24 a.m. officers were called out to the area in front of 207
Chapel Street for a shooting in progress.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 22-year old female and 25-year old man with gunshot wounds.
The man was shot in the arm, hand and his head was grazed by a bullet, while the female was shot in the hand.
Police say the staffers with Kiddieland took immediate action to safeguard the children and employees that were inside of the Daycare when the shooting took place and also helped the shooting victims.
The man was taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, while the woman was transported by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center with both shooting victims listed in stable condition.
Despite receiving limited cooperation at the scene, police were able to determine that a fight took place shortly before the shooting between the 25-year old man and another man in the street.
Police say the female intervened during the physical altercation at some point during the fight the other man fired about four rounds that hit both the 25-year old man and 22-year old female.
Based on information gathered at the scene, officers determined that the Daycare was not a target and that the female shooting victim just dropped off her children off at the nursery when the confrontation between the two men took place.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact 931-645-8477.
