The Kentucky State Police “Blue Lights Across Kentucky” campaign has concluded and the results are impressive.
A news release from KSP says 2,072 people were arrested at 1,640 roadblocks on DUI charges between June 1st and Monday. There were 1,462 drug arrests, 8,932 seat belt citations and 933 child seat violations written up at the checkpoints as well. Police also found and arrested 41 fugitives at the roadblocks.
The campaign was designed to bring attention to unsafe driving behaviors in an effort to reduce traffic deaths in Kentucky. KSP Operations Major Mike Crawford says he’s pleased with the results of the campaign and that the agency will continue with similar efforts.
