The City of Hopkinsville’s proposed multi-million dollar municipal building project is rolling along despite the concerns of a couple of city council members.
During Tuesday night’s Hopkinsville City Council meeting, Councilman Charlie Henderson expressed his concerns over changes that were made in the bidding process to award contracts to local companies, even though they were not the lowest bidders.
Councilman Phillip Brooks also expressed his distaste in how the bidding process took place.
Mayor Dan Kemp responded to their concerns and stated an executive decision was made to award contracts to area companies in an effort to keep the local economy strong.
During Tuesday night’s meeting, Mayor Kemp announced that a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Hopkinsville Municipal Center will take place Tuesday, September 18th
and that nine local suppliers and contractors have over $1.2 million participation in the project.
