The 25th Annual Trail of Tears Inter-Tribal Pow Wow gets underway Friday evening at the park and officials are hoping for a great turnout.
Temperatures are supposed to top out in the 70’s Saturday and Sunday and Friday night should be pleasant too, assuming the rain stays away until after the 6pm concert by the Southern Dirt Band and Indigenous.
Organizer Peg Hays says there will be all of the old traditions and more through the weekend.
As always, attendees are also encouraged to look at and commemorate the history of the park and remember those Native Americans who died on the march to Oklahoma.
Friday night’s concerts are free to attend, while admission Saturday and Sunday is six dollars.
