Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp made a major announcement tonight concerning the city’s proposed multi-million dollar municipal center.
Mayor Kemp announced a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Hopkinsville Municipal Center will take place Tuesday, September 18th at 5:15 p.m. at the downtown building site at 715 South Virginia Street.
Mayor Kemp says he is also pleased to announce that nine local suppliers and contractors have over $1.2 million participation in the estimated $8.2 million project.
The city received approval last week from the Kentucky Building Code Office to move forward with the project with construction expected to last about 18 months.
During the council member comments portion of the meeting, Councilman Charlie Henderson expressed his concern about the handling of bids.
