Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital will be playing host to special guests who will be presenting priceless mementos to the hospital.
Family members of Colonel Florence A. Blanchfield, for whom the hospital was named, will arrive from west Virginia tomorrow afternoon to donate Colonel Blanchefield’s remaining medals and awards.
The medal and award presentation is scheduled to take place within the lobby of the hospital.
Colonel Blanchfield was the 7th Chief of the Army Nurse Corps from July 1st 1943 until September 30th, 1947 and was affectionately known as the soldier’s nurse.
Colonel Blanchfield served as an Army nurse during World War I and as the Army Nurse Corps Chief during World War II.
