A Hopkinsville pharmacy was burglarized late last night, while a local man was arrested for allegedly trying to break into another drug store hours later in an apparently unrelated incident.
The first burglary happened at Cayce’s Pharmacy on the Bypass, where someone forced their way inside the building and took various pills. That incident happened around 9:45 last night and no suspects are listed on the report. The report from Hopkinsville Police says the front door lock was damaged on the building.
A few hours later, Hopkinsville Police were called to Tom’s Pharmacy on Country Club Lane around 2am and found 27-year old Matthew Carbino of Hopkinsville allegedly standing at the east wall of the building where a hole had been knocked in the wall. Carbino allegedly ran to his vehicle when he saw an HPD cruiser.
The report says a flashlight, a steel punch and a long-handled claw hammer were found in the suspect’s vehicle and he allegedly admitted to making the hole. Police say Carbino was trying to make a hole in the wall large enough to get inside.
Carbino was arrested and charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools.
