Three Iowa residents were arrested in Cadiz on drug charges yesterday afternoon, thanks to some help from the new Trigg County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit.
Cadiz Police Sgt. Chad Grace pulled over 48-year old Scott Waters of Mount Pleasant, Iowa on U.S. 68-80 around 4pm for allegedly driving in a careless manner, according to a news release.
Waters could not produce an insurance card and Sgt. Grace called for backup from Trigg County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jimmy Godair and K9 “Kilo.” The dog hit on the car and police say they found a plastic canister under the hood near the car battery containing a small baggie of marijuana, homemade pipes commonly used to smoke narcotics, a homemade pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine with residue in it and a baggie containing an anti-biotic.
Waters and his two passengers—26-year old Sarah Balchunas of Mount Pleasant, Iowa and 42-year old Gregory Riderknecht of What Cheer, Iowa—were all arrested on several drug possession charges when none would take ownership of the items.
They were lodged in the Christian County Jail.
