Hopkinsville City Councilwoman Ann Cherry appeared in Circuit Court for arraignment this morning.
Ms. Cherry was accompanied to court by a group of supporters and appeared at Judge John Atkins bench with attorney Ben Fletcher. It only took 20 seconds for a not guilty plea to be entered on her behalf.
Councilwoman Cherry is charged with one count each of tampering with public records, tampering with a witness and second degree official misconduct. Officials have declined to publicly go into any detail over what the charges are regarding, but sources say the charges relate to the recent Hopkinsville Police investigation of multiple burglaries and attempted burglaries in the city that she allegedly hindered in some way.
She was served with a criminal summons by State Police on August 17th, the same day she was indicted.
