The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two alleged burglaries that took place between Sunday and Wednesday morning.
The first case, 38-year old Michelle Hayes of Butler Road, Hopkinsville told sheriff’s deputies that while she asleep at her Butler Road residence Wednesday night, someone entered her home and stole $180 from her wallet.
Ms. Hayes reported that she fell asleep in the living room around 3:30 a.m. and woke up a couple hours later and found that the front door of her home was wide open, dresser drawers in her bedroom were pulled out and the kitchen window open and the microwave in front of the window pushed to the side.
Ms. Hayes provided a possible suspect and explained to deputies that the young male recently got out of jail and knew she had money and where she kept it.
In the second case, 23-year old Ryan McLeod of Herndon Oak Grove Road, Oak Grove reported that sometime between Thursday, August 9th and Thursday, August 16th someone entered his residence at stole various military gear with a total estimated value of over $2,700.
McLeod told deputies prior to the incident, he came home and found an unknown male inside his residence, who claimed to be the plumber and even showed him faucets he had changed.
McLeod also stated that all the faucets looked the same and that there was no reason for a plumber to be there.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office says both burglary cases are being investigated and that detectives were following all leads.
