Land Between the Lakes officials have decided to lift the burn ban there, citing better conditions.
A news release says cooler temperatures and higher humidity allowed the ban that had been in place since June to be lifted. Those using campfires are still reminded to be extremely cautious and to always be sure they are put out with water and cool to the touch before abandoning them.
Smokers should also remember that winds can pick up discarded cigarettes and take them to dry areas where wildfires can begin. Fireworks are banned at LBL all year long.
Anyone seeing an unattended campfire or a wildfire at LBL should call report it immediately to Forest Service Personnel by calling 911.
Officials say they may find it necessary to put the ban back in place if current dry patterns continue into the fall hunting seasons.
