The Hopkinsville Fire Department’s annual “Fill the Boot” campaign will begin next month to raise money for local muscular dystrophy patients.
Fire Marshal Cecelia Cloos says fire-fighters will continue a long tradition of supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association beginning August 31st and running through September 2nd, when they will accept donations in front of the Hopkinsville Wal-Mart.
She says $7,100 was raised last year and the money goes right where it’s most needed.
Fire Marshal Cloos says the “Fill the Boot” campaign is the local department’s way to help those fighting one of the 43 different types of muscular dystrophy.
The money raise also goes to help send children suffering from the disease to attend a week-long summer camp.
