A Marshall County woman was arrested last night for allegedly driving impaired and wrecking with four children in the vehicle.
The incident happened around 7:20pm, according to a news release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, which says 26-year old Haley Schroader of Benton failed to negotiate a curve and ran off Moors Camp Highway.
Schroader’s van ended up in a wooded area and responding officers noticed the odor of alcohol on her person. Police say Schroader admitted to drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
Schroader and her four children, ages six to nine, were taken to Marshall County Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The mother was arrested on her second DUI charge in the last five years after treatment and was also charged with wanton endangerment for putting her children in danger.
Schroader’s husband, Blake Schroader, fled the scene of the wreck on foot and has charges pending against him.
