More charges have been filed against a Trigg County man accused of growing marijuana, with his wife also arrested yesterday.
The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office charged 51-year old Nathan Whitt of 3921 Caledonia Pee-Dee Road Herndon with drug crimes Tuesday after following up on a tip and finding five marijuana plants growing outside his home and additional plants inside.
Through additional investigation, police determined there could be more contraband and possibly military explosives in the residence. The Christian and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and State Police assisted them in a search, which turned up two suspicious items that were ultimately not bombs.
They did, however, find explosive material in an outside shed. In the home, police say they found four handguns and 13 long guns including a sawed off shotgun and two rifles with homemade silencers that were confiscated.
Over 80 gallons of homemade alcohol, items used in an active still and what are described as “military explosives” were also taken from the home. Sheriff Burnam says the Paducah Bomb Squad assisted on the scene.
Whitt and his wife, 48-year old Beatrix Whitt, returned home during the search and were arrested on multiple drug and alcohol offenses, with possible gun charges coming.
