What’s described as a “friendly wrestling match” led to a stabbing in Clarksville last night, with a suspect charged with attempted murder.
A news release from Clarksville Police says officers responded to the Kangaroo Express on Pembroke Road in the Queen City around 8:30. The stabbing happened just down the road, where witnesses say 49-year old Jonathan Troy Hargadine and 20-year old Jason Bennett had engaged in a friendly wrestling match.
The “loser” of the match was deemed to be Hargadine, who then allegedly went to his office and retrieved a knife before coming back and stabbing Bennett in the right side of his chest.
Bennett and his girlfriend drove to the Kangaroo Express, where they called 911 and waited for help. He was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was treated and released for his wound.
Hargadine was found sleeping on the couch at his home and was arrested and charged with criminal attempt to commit homicide. He was lodged in the Montgomery County Jail on 250-thousand dollars bond.
