Clarksville Police are investigating a shooting from yesterday afternoon, with one arrest made and many questions left unanswered.
Officers were called to Gateway Medical Center around 1:15pm after a 32-year old male showed up in a private vehicle with a superficial gunshot wound to the head and a wound to the leg.
No 911 calls of shots fired had been received, so police had to backtrack and were able to determine the incident happened in the area of Kellogg and Farris Street, which is near the campus of Austin Peay State University.
None of the involved parties had an association with the college, with a news release saying 35-year old Derrick Williams was driving the victim in the area when they had an altercation with 21-year old Kantrell Head.
Head was arrested, but only charged with theft for being in possession of a stolen firearm. Officers found shell casings in the area and found that the Child Learning Center on 8th Street had also been struck by gunfire, though no one was injured there.
Police are still sorting through different accounts of the story and ask anyone with informtion to call them at 931-645-8477. The victim is listed in stable condition.
