The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office will have a K9 unit within the next couple weeks.
Sheriff Ray Burnam said last night in a statement that drug dog “Kilo” will hit the streets as unit 218 in two weeks. The Sheriff’s Office had sought a dog for several months before having enough funding to make the purchase.
The Sheriff attributed Sgt. Jimmy Godair’s eagerness to use the animal to fight drug crimes as one of the driving forces for getting the dog and says the K9 equipment such as a harness and vest have already been received.
