Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says scammers are always trying to come up with ways to steal hard earned money from honest citizens.
Attorney General Conway says he wants to make sure Kentucky senior citizens are armed with latest information to protect themselves against fraud and identity theft scams.
He says unsolicited callers requesting personal information for bogus hospital billing purposes, healthcare or prescription benefits, as well as lottery and sweepstakes, continue to be a major source of concern.
Conway adds that it’s never a good idea to give out personal information over the phone to a stranger or to wire money to someone who is not a trusted friend or family member.
To ensure that all senior citizens are safe from scammers, Conway suggests residents to beware of home solicitors and to keep the door closed to people they don’t recognize, research the product, service or company before they buy or contribute money and to never do business with unsolicited callers, especially if they are offering to fix credit and consolidate loans.
