Two people were sent by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries after they were involved in single vehicle wreck in Hopkins County yesterday morning.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wreck on Greenville Road involving a garbage truck owned by Madisonville Disposal.
Through the course of investigation, deputies determined that 46-year old George Allen, the truck driver allowed the vehicle to drop off the right shoulder of the roadway and then attempted to steer it back onto the roadway.
Sheriff’s Deputies say as the truck re-entered the lane, the weight of the truck caused it to overturn on its side, slide across the west bound lane.
Deputies say the truck then struck an earth embankment and overturned onto its top where it came to rest.
Allen and his passenger, 44-year old Ricky Vickery were both sent to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Greenville Road was closed for about an hour while wreckers removed the truck.
