More details are now known about the double-shooting on McHenry Street from early Sunday morning.
The report from Hopkinsville Police says officers received a report of a woman with a gunshot wound to the leg near the 2000 block of McHenry a few minutes after midnight. On the way to the scene, the ECC received a second call of a male shot in the stomach.
When police arrived, they found 18-year old Brooklyn Adams of Hopkinsville with a gunshot wound about four inches above her knee and 24-year old James Kyle of Hopkinsville with a single gunshot wound just below his ribcage.
Both victims were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, though Kyle would later be flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The report says the victims are unrelated to each other.
Witnesses identified the shooter as 25-year old Desmond Daniel of Hopkinsville and officers got consent to search his girlfriend’s residence on where he was located. The arrest card for Daniel says they found a gun with the serial number scratched off in the home in addition to a small quantity of marijuana.
Daniel was taken to the police station and interviewed and arrested shortly after 5am on two counts of first degree assault and one count of possession of a defaced firearm. He was lodged in the Christian County Jail on 25-thousand dollars bond. He will appear in Christian District Court Wednesday.
