A Hopkinsville woman was cited into court on endangering the welfare of a minor charges Friday night.
Hopkinsville Police Officer Robert Sibal was called to the area of Braden and Sara Streets around 7:15pm after a resident spotted a five year old girl walking alone on the roadway.
The resident said she had seen the same girl alone earlier in the day and stayed with the child until police arrived. The little girl was able to give police her name and the name of her mother—28-year old Jessany Coleman—with officers finding her at a Means Avenue residence.
Ms. Coleman said she had left her daughter in the care of her 9-year old son and she had believed the girl had been playing next door. Police charged Ms. Coleman with endangering the welfare of a minor and she will appear in Christian District Court next month.
