The Christian County Health Department has established a new program geared towards teaching young and expectant mothers on how to properly raise and bond with their infant.
Darlene Shemwell talks about the program, which first begins with families meeting with a certified health expert to discuss any questions or concerns about the pregnancy or the baby’s first years.
Ms. Shemwell says the voluntary program is great and that services can begin during or anytime before a child is three months old.
Ms. Shemwell also says some families may receive further support through home visitation and information about resources available in the community for new parents.
