A Hopkinsville man is accused of stealing property out of unlocked cars early Sunday morning and was arrested after allegedly leading officers on a footchase.
Charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing from police and criminal mischief was 20-year old Shawn Blane of Hopkinsville. Residents of an apartment complex on Sivley Road called police after seeing Blane allegedly taking items out of cars around 2:30am.
Hopkinsville Police used a description given by residents and found a suspect meeting the description walking on East 9th Street. Blaine allegedly ran when Officer Adam Robertson tried to stop him, before finally being caught on Belmont Hill.
Officer Robertson says in the report he was able to return some of the property found on Blaine’s person and other property was placed in evidence. Officer Robertson sustained a small cut to the hand during the pursuit.
