The commander of Kentucky State Police in the Madisonville Post 2 district is retiring at the end of the month.
A news release from KSP says Captain William Marks, Jr. will step down after 27 years of service. Captain Marks’ accomplishments include seven years as a lieutenant at three different posts in western Kentucky before taking over as commander of the Mayfield post in August of 2006.
Captain Marks transferred to become commander of Post 2 in February of 2008, where he has served since. During his 27 year career, he has been awarded two Commissioner’s Commendations, he has served as an accident reconstructionist, a firearms instructor and field training officer.
He is also a United States Army veteran and a 1979 graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School.
