The Swifty Service Station employee who told police she was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly making the story up.
Charged with felony theft and falsely reporting an incident was 22-year old Katina King of Hopkinsville.
The arrest card says Ms. King gave a written statement admitting to making the story up and that video surveillance also backs up a false claim. She was taken to the police station where she said she still had a majority of the stolen 693 dollars in her possession.
Police spent over three hours investigating the incident Tuesday night after King said a male suspect came into the restroom while she cleaned and took the cash at gunpoint.
