Emergency responders from two counties responded to a single-vehicle wreck between Fairview and Elkton this morning.
The incident happened just before 11am about two and a half miles east of Fairview on U.S. 68-80 in the westbound lanes. Initial reports indicated at least one person was trapped in the wreckage.
Members of the Todd and Christian County Rescue Squads responded to the scene, along with an Air-Evac helicopter and the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department.
Christian County rescue squad Chief Randy Graham says two people sustained minor injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Further complicating matters was a stuck elevator at the Jefferson Davis Monument that left three tourists trapped about ten feet from the top. The Fairview Fire Department and Todd County Rescue Squad had just been notified of the monument incident when the wreck occurred.
We’ll have further details on the accident as they become available.
