Today is forecast to be the last for extreme heat in western Kentucky, with relatively cooler temperatures expected the rest of the week.
The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued one more heat advisory through this evening as they say the mercury will rise to the mid to upper 90’s today, with a 40-percent chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and a 70-percent chance tonight.
Even with the much-needed widespread rain expected for the area early this week, the weather service says it won’t be enough to end the severe to extreme ongoing drought. A special weather statement says burn bans will likely still be needed for the foreseeable future.
Today is the only in a seven day forecast with a high temperature above 90 degrees.
